The thin black needles visible in the quartz are in fact tourmaline inclusions. These needles formed before being surrounded by quartz, so their fragile structures are perfectly preserved. This natural process makes each stone unique. When these needles are gold- or copper-coloured, they contain rutile, while green inclusions usually epidote or actinolite are and blue inclusions the mineral dumortierite contain. Each of these formations is a pure work of art by Mother Nature.
